Finally, Google has released an over-the-air update enabling multitouch, Google Goggles,  a new version of Google Maps and some 3G fixes. Users will receive a message on their phone’s notification bar, then just download and install it. Since the update will be rolled out gradually, Google says that most users might not receive the notification until the end of the week.

While Microsoft is on its way to launch the Windows Mobile 7, the company is pushing out another updates to its Windows Mobile 6.5 with the Windows Mobile 6.5.3. Both Garmin Asus M10 and Sony Ericsson Aspen are confirmed to have the 6.5.3. The Garmin Asus M10 will be available in Taiwan from 6-February this week. According to ZDnet’s All About Microsoft, they have obtained a list of the changes in the new version. It includes a better finger friendly navigation design, support capacitive touch screen, improved IE browser and also able to support multitouch with capacitive touch screen.

Sony Ericsson today unveils the Aspen, a Windows Mobile smartphone running with the latest windows mobile 6.5.3. The Sony Ericsson Aspe allows easy multi-tasking combining the touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard. Organise and adapt panels to change during the day and use Slide View for quick access to common features. Sony Ericsson Aspen supports HSPA 900/2100 and EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, HSPA 850/900/2100 and EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and will be available in selected markets from Q2 in the colours Iconic Black and White Silver.

Motorola launched their Android-based Motorola ME600 a.k.a the Backflip in China recently. The unlocked version will be sold directly by Motorola China for about 4,298 Chinese Yuan (US $629). The company’s third Android mobile device launched at the CES boasts a 320 x 480 pixels capacitive touchscreen and a full QWERTY physical keyboard.

This is the Nokia concept phone known as the Orion that could put the PSP and DS out of business. Actually, that probably isn’t the plan, but you have to admit that gaming on mobile phones is about as good as playing the Atari 2600. Not that it isn’t fun, but if gaming could be more on a mobile, let’s make it more.

Verizon Wireless today announced the launch of VZ Navigator 5.0, which offer enhancements to the existing service that take advantage of location-based technology, including an updated, easy-to-use interface, improved functionality finding points of interest, and the ability to run multiple VZ Navigator functions simultaneously within a navigation session. The service is now integrated with Facebook, allowing users to keep up with their friends, family and social networks by updating their Facebook statuses directly through VZ Navigator, with the option to include and share their locations. Customers can also use Verizon Wireless’ Roadside Assistance service to send their locations to a dispatcher so assistance may reach them more quickly.

Kyocera and Boost Mobile today announced the availability of the Sanyo Mirro SCP3810. The Mirro is available through Boost retailers and online for $79.99 (excluding taxes).
