You may recall that in the James Bond movie, Tomorrow Never Dies, the British secret agent has a nifty Ericsson JB988 mobile phone that can be used to control a BMW car. Well, fact follows fictio
n and a patent has just been granted for exactly the same sort of mobile phone, although not to Ericsson unfortunately. The present invention relies on Push to Talk functionality that can be used to control vehicle functions. Thus, one need not remove their keys from their car. Instead, they can simply use their cell phone to lock doors, turn on lights, perform a remote start, open a trunk or hood, activate an alarm system, or perform other vehicle functions.
The patent was awarded to Anil Sahal from the USA. |
