3G phones for deaf, blind peopleWhile 3G phones gain momentum around the globe, the deaf and blind are still left behind by technology, having enough trouble as it is with 2G phones. A recently approved mainstread standard for 3G and Next Generation Networks look set to change that, as it enables real-time communication in video, text, and voice, making telecoms available to virtually everyone regardless of their disability.

This new standard is known as RTP Payload for Text Conversation and will be made mainstream in the near future. There are no pictures of the exact handsets yet, so the Nokia N70 on the right is used for illustrative purposes only.
