Sony Ericsson today announces the launch of a revolutionary new concept, Night Tennis. Combining internationally renowned DJs, Groove Armada and Darren Emerson with a fashion extravaganza, thumping tunes and a game of tennis, it promises to rock Madrid. The Spanish capital is playing host to the first Sony Ericsson Championships from November 7th to 12th.
Night Tennis will run over two evenings, 9th and 10th November, as part of Sony Ericsson sponsored entertainment, competitions and events during the week of the Sony Ericsson Championships. Eight players will take to the court wearing specially designed neon whites to serve up a new type of tennis. Played in pitch black, with UV as the only source of light, it promises to revolutionise the way tennis is played and watched. Night Tennis will provide clubbers with a sensory extravaganza like no other. Each game will be punctuated by intense music beats and an incredible light show. The court, net and balls along with players clothing will be fully UV reactive ensuring an exciting and stimulating experience. As each tournament draws to a close and the adrenaline starts to drop away, ‘Underwater Records’ label boss, Darren Emerson will take to the decks on the Thursday and internationally renowned band Groove Armada will perform a DJ set on Friday to set the crowd dancing long into the night. Spanish fashion designer Ruben Gomez Navarro will display his first ever neon fashion collection between matches to keep the tempo upbeat. Darren Emerson is looking forward to playing at Night Tennis: "I’m looking forward to performing at the Night Tennis event, an idea as off the wall as you could possibly expect when combining electronic music and sport. I have played some interesting gigs in bizarre places over the years, but this is up there with them. My set will be a nice release from the tension of the tournament." Groove Armada agrees: "We are very excited about the concept of DJ-ing as part of the Night Tennis event in Madrid. As big fans of the game, the concept of Night Tennis has the kind of twist to it that we like with our music. We have no idea what to expect, but we love the concept of playing in the dark - we’ve been pioneering it for years!!" By SonyEricsson |
