According to several antivirus companies three new viruses infect some cell phones. Trojans or in other words programs disguised as user applications spread through Bluetooth or MMS and may infect phones with Symbian OS. Though according to Symantech the level of the threat is rated as low. Botton.E: The virus was located about a week ago by F-Secure and Symantech and perhaps is the most detrimental of the tree. Yhis virus makes phone reload all the time making impression that the device is out of order. Pbstealer.D: the virus sends contact list, notes, calendar and business schedule from the infected phone to all alike phones in the proximity through Bluetooth. Sendtool.A: sends other detrimental programs like Pbstealer.D to other devices through Bluetooth
However both Symantech and F-Secure claim that these trojans are not likely to become widespread because they are not autonomous. Unlike PC worms spreading without user’s knowledge, trojans infecting cell phones spread as usual applications. For installation they need loading and user’s confirmation.
