Results from a study released Friday found that there is no link between cellular phone use and the most common type of brain tumor. The study was conducted over a four-year period by scientists at the Institute of Cancer Research and three British universities. "Overall, we found no raised risk of glioma associated with regular mobile phone use and no association with time since first use, lifetime years of use, cumulative hours of use, or number of calls," said University of Leeds Professor Patricia McKinney, in the British Medical Journal. McKinney said the study's results were consistent with research done in other European countries as well as in the United States. Cellular phone use has exploded in the last decade, however, there has been no evidence to support the common fear that long term use would cause a host of health problems. The study looked at 966 people with glioma brain tumors and questioned more than 1,700 volunteers about their cell phone use.
