Verizon Wireless another attack in battle against cell phone spamers PDF Print E-mail

Verizon Wireless brings 3 more suits against major spam companies – Somerville, Superior Court and Marketing Group. These companies are accused of phone spam that is they called Verzion clients and reproduced advertising records offering to call back for more information by the number indicated in the message. The companies started their marketing activity in between November and December 2005. They have sent about 500 thousand messages. The peculiar thing is – the messages were not in English but in Spanish which is according to the surveys understood by 10% of population which is of course a considerable but definitely not major part. Though despite the fact about 55 thousand clients got interested and made a return call. Meanwhile the laws definitely forbid automated phone spam that uses programs to call and deliver messages especially when the subscriber is to pay for the call received. By the law Verzion has right to demand 500 USD compensation for every fixed spam call.
