Nokia showcased the Nokia 6300, a mid-range model that represents an evolution of the modern monoblock design. Weighing a mere 91 grams and measuring less than 13.1mm thin, the Nokia 6300 is constructed of quality materials and offers a modern suite of features for today's consumer. Featuring a great screen, ergonomic keymat and easy-to-use menu, the Nokia 6300 is expected to begin shipping during the first quarter of 2007 with an estimated retail price of 250 euros before subsidies or taxes. "Like an impeccably tailored suit, the Nokia 6300 is perfectly proportioned, always in style, but best appreciated for its attention to detail," said Kai Oistamo, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Phones, Nokia.
Appearance and design Dimension: 106.4 x 43.6 x 13.1 mm; weight: 91g.
The clean lines and recessed buttons of the Nokia 6300 are highlighted by a stainless steel frame that adds both design interest and strength.
The phone’s body is made of metal and glam plastic. Metal which reminds steel and doesn’t band or scratches is used for battery cover and front panel. Metal is practical and looks very respectable at the same time, that’s why it’s widely used in business-class phones. Black area around the display is made of glam plastic that attracts fingerprints. But it’s not a big problem – you can easily remove it.
We can’t say that design of the Nokia 6300 is unique – we can see many peculiar to the previous Nokia phones features. The handset hasn’t even got a name.
It’s the first Nokia phone that is so slim and light and costs about $200. Such combination of the weight and slim form-factor allows you to carry it wherever you like, for example in the shirt’s pocket, tight jeans and jackets. Keypad Display area, where control buttons are located, is lifted a little from the front panel. It looks stylish and helps ergonomics – you can always know on which block your finger is. If it’s on the lifted area it means you’re gonna press on of the control buttons, otherwise it’s a simple keypad.
Simple digital keypad is made of plastic, though it looks similar to the steel body. Soft keys “Begin/End call” buttons are see-through and have a nice backlight of red, blue and green colors. Additional buttons Along the right side of the 6300 are the loudspeaker, volume up/down key, that can serve as a voice recorder button too. The top side has a traditional On/Off button. Display TFT, 240х320, 16.7 million colors It’s the same size as in the Nokia 6233, but the color amount is increased up to 16 million. Nokia 6300 display is covered with a special glass as the phone has a classic form-factor and the screen is always opened. Though we didn’t mention a big difference between Nokia 6131 and 6300. So we can ask “why the clamshell doesn’t have the safety glass?” Who knows..
Display is the first thing that attracts your attention in this phone. The picture quality is high. Comparing to Samsung, a leader of the screens, Nokia has gain such a popularity even having not being released yet/ Samsung D900 is already on the market for a month but still not on the first rates. There is nothing bad I can say about the 6300 display. Color rendering is perfect. lt works in direct sunlight, but some colors become lighter, it depends on the sunlight angle. Camera 1600 x 1200 (2.0 Mp), Video, 8x ZOOm
Camera is located on the back side of the handset. Sometimes you can close the camera lens with your finger. So be careful . Interface and all settings are default. Camera quality is also the same with Nokia 6233. But comparing to predecessor the 6300 has a horizontal mode of taking the pictures. The phone has no special Camera button. To turn on the Camera you should press the Up button, you can also change the settings to another button. Sizes, Ports and Slots
The handset can be connected to different phones via Bluetooth or through mini USB port. Unfortunately USB cable is not included to the package . The phone has no IR. Menu
Nokia 6300 is based on the Series 40 platform of 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 1. Neither Menu nor other software have experienced a changes. It supports different themes of Menu. The Contacts can fit up to 1000 items. Among all the contact’s information you can set a personalised ringtone and video to the name. this feature becomes usual for Nokia phones now. Voice control and Voice dialling is typical for the Series 40 of 3rd Edition too. It’s stylish, incredibly and unusually thin! The combination of size, stainless steel casing, and good features with the solid build from Nokia make this a perfect choice . Looks super cool, 2GB MicroSD means no more need for ipod! It also has EDGE and HSSDC. Nice to use all these in one phone. But the phone needs more power battery with more talk time and WiFi would be nice have there as well. The estimated retail price of the Nokia 6300 is €250 before subsidies or taxes. It will be available during Q1 2007. |
